I had been eyeing Paul’s paintings for a while but couldn’t decide. When Paul posted a reel about it last year, and described the inspiration for it, I knew this needed to be the first one. I saw myself as the person in the boat, and the red parrot as my late sister (though she sends me cardinals, not parrots). I am at a point in my life where I am trying to leave my old life behind, and head toward a new one, so this painting speaks to the depths of my soul. I cry every time I look at it!
